Three innocent Jumma villagers arrested by the police in Kaukhali

On 29 December 2005 following innocent Jumma villagers from Maghachari area under Kaukhali upazila in Rangamati district were arrested by the police of Rangunia police station under Chittagong district. It is learnt that one Bengali named Matiur Rahman alias Pakya (50) was killed by unknown miscreant/s on 28 December while he returning farmhouse from Maghachari shops. The miscreant/s kept his dead body on the way to Marma village. In connection with the killing, the police led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rangunia police station along with acting local Chairman rushed the Marma village and arrested 7 (seven) Marma villagers. Among them, four villagers were released, but following three villagers of Dulyachari village under Islampur union of Rangunia upazila were sent to jail custody in connection with killing of Matiur Rahman:
1) Mr. Aungya Prue Marma (32) s/o late Ruechai Marma;
2) Mr. Ching Kyew Marma (28) s/o Ching Thowai Marma;
3) Mr. Kyaning Aung Marma (20) s/o Mong Thue Marma.
In connection with this killing, some Bengali leaders of Maghachari area namely chairman Alam and ex upazila chairman Md. Nurul Alam are instigating relatives of victims to lodge case against the Marma villagers so that Marma villagers were compelled to evict from the locality and Bengali villagers could grab their land. Even Bengali villagers led by Rafiq (35), Md. Siraj Mian (50), Shamsul Alam (32) s/o Siraj Mian etc are also trying to commit communal attack on Marma community.
