Innocent Jumma villagers brutally tortured by Major Nasim of Panchari zone
On 3 January 2006 at night around 10.30 Major Nasim of Panchari zone in Khagrachari district tortured brutally following villagers of Dewan Para under Khagrachari sadar upazila in Khagrachari district:
1) Mr. Sindhu Kumar Chakma (42) s/o late Dayal Kumar Chakma
2) Mr. Arun Bikash Dewan (27) s/o Umakanta Dewan
3) Mr. Bibha Dewan (22) s/o Umakanta Dewan.
It is learnt that on that day, Major Nasim came to Bhaibonchara camp and stayed whole night at Bhaibonchara camp. During the staying at the camp, he sent a group of army from Bhaibonchara camp to arrest Sindhu Kumar Chakma. Sindhu Kumar was brought at Bhaibonchara camp and tortured brutally. After that, latter two villagers mentioned above who were sons of returnee PCJSS member were brought from their home and also tortured by the army. Major Nasim asked them to present their father (who stayed in Rangamati for treatment) to him. He also ordered them to leave village if they could not present their father before him.
On the other, on 4 January at around 7.00 a.m. Major Nasim also tortured following villagers at College Gate area while returning his zone headquarter from Bhaibonchara camp. The victims were:
1) Mr. Apo Chakma (40) s/o Kamesh Chandra Chakma; he is General Secretary of PCJSS of Panchari branch
2) Mr. Binoy Chakma (28) s/o late Sukomal Chakma.
